Polyethylene terephthalate green PET foams are the newest structural core materials in the composite industry. Armacell was the first to market when they launched commercially in 2006 with the introduction of ArmaForm®.
Armacell paved the way for green PET foam cores in the composite industry, investing in extensive research and development for technology that enables the production of highly consistent structural green PET foam boards made from post-consumer PET materials. Recycled beverage bottles are used in this productions process. The bottles are cleaned of impurities and then ground to flakes, used as the raw material basis for ArmaFORM production.
ArmaForm® is not only green in color, it is a truly sustainable solution. It provides all the known benefits of PET based structural foams – such as thermal resistance, fatigue behaviour and compressive strength – and enables Armacell and its customers to present a real ‘green’ alternative to standard PET foams and other foam core materials currently available in the market.
Today, ARMAFORM® cores are used in sandwich structures, and are steadily substituting traditional materials such as Balsa, SAN and PVC. The reason is simple: they offer outstanding product quality, tremendous diversity and truly sustainable production.
ARMAFORM® offers new perspectives in manufacturing. It’s expected that a modern composite material is lightweight and has high mechanical strength, in conjunction with residual flexibility and maximum service life. ARMAFORM® provides this and more.
